Mark Rein: PS3 UT3 graphics better than Gears of War

PS3 UT3 has better graphics than Gears of War according to Mark Rein, Epic’s vice president.

Speaking in an interview with Pro-G at the launch of the PC version of the game, Rein said that he was “really proud” of the PS3 game.

He said: “People are going to be pleasantly surprised. It’s a really high end experience that pushes the graphics bar up even higher than Gears of War. There’s more polygons, there’s more stuff going on, there’s more explosions and there’s more things happening, so we’re just really pleased with the way the game runs on the PS3.”

Rein said that there is “something special” about playing UT3 on the PS3, and that while the speed of the game has been reduced by about 20%, “it feels just right to be playing it with a controller”.

Nvidia GeForce 9 Series: Codenamed – G92 to debut in November?

Nvidia is preparing to up the ante in the performance graphics chip stakes this coming November with ‘G92’, it has been claimed. If true, the new part will be announced a year after Nvidia launched its first GeForce 8 series GPU.

Various reports around the web earmark 12 November for G92’s launch date, though there’s some confusion about the part’s ranking in Nvidia’s product list. GeForce 8950 is one name put forward, suggesting it’ll sit above the 8800 Ultra, but then other reports suggest it’ll be more of a mainstream part.

There’s some consensus on G92’s capabilities, however. Expect a DirectX 10.1 part that’ll fit on PCI Express 2.0 connected cards with DVI, HDMI and – interestingly – DisplayPort connectors. Read the rest of this entry »

GeForce 9 Series Specs!??!?!

G92 is supposingly to be released in November 2007 timeframe in the form of “GeForce 9800” series.

These are the supposingly specs:

– 65nm process technology at TSMC.
– Over one billion transistors.
– Second Generation Unified Shader Architecture.
– Double precsion support (FP64).
– GPGPU native.
– Over one TeraFLOPS of shader processing power.
– MADD+ADD configuration for the shader untis (2+1 FLOPS=3 FLOPS per ALU)
– Fully Scalar design.
– 512-bit memory interface.
– 1024MB GDDR4 graphics memory.
– DirectX 10.1 support.
– OpenGL 3.0 Support.
– eDRAM die for “FREE 4xAA”.
– built in Audio Chip.
– built in tesselation unit (in the graphics core”
– Improved AA and AF quality levels

This may not be true, but if it is i m so damn ready for it!! (Though the prices on release will be sky high!! 🙂 )
